DotScope: Faster, Higher Repeatability, Battery-Free

SOPRIN has taken another step towards improving the DotScope. Thanks to the innovative further developments in the hardware and software, it has been possible to significantly increase both the working speed and the repeatability. The DotScope is the fastest and most precise scanning 3D microscope in its class.

The 3D measurement is faster, including the autofocus. The autofocus is faster, making it practical when the surface is a long way out of focus. Here is an example: anilox measurement, 10x lens, 105 µm measurement range, focus displacement 100 µm. It took 35 seconds to perform a measurement including an autofocus. With the new electronics, you only need 20 seconds to do the same job, nearly 35% less time.

The repeatability of a 3D measurement on the same place is at least 20% higher. From now on, the typical repeatability is 0.04 cm³/m² standard deviation at a dip volume of 8 cm³m², depending on the object.

The low-power design of the new electronics makes the battery superfluous. Its low weight and the fact that it only requires one connection cable to the PC make it the undisputed leader.

Without a battery a DotScope can make more than 4,000 3D measurements in 24 hours. There are clear advantages to not having a battery:

• The battery is not suitable for high-volume users. It has a limit of about 200 measurements before it needs a charging break. The bottleneck is now a thing of the past. This means there will be no battery limitation anymore.
• Maintenance has been reduced even further. Batteries fail and must be replaced after years. If there is no battery, these issues are eliminated.
• Safety is extremely important. There is absolutely no fire risk.

It is guaranteed that older DotScope versions will continue to be fully supported, even for device serial number 001.
